on Nov 26, 2014

Monday night in Georgetown should have included a runway because it gave me flashbacks to the AMAs the night before!!  Rent the Runway has arrived and it is 4,354-square-foot of fabulous!  Located in store in Washington DC’s historic Georgetown district, I was delighted to learn that this is their largest retail location to date and second freestanding store.  I also found out that it will feature a rotating selection of 900 dresses and 500 accessories from over 200 major designers, including Monique Lhuillier, Elizabeth & James, Clover Canyon and Badgley Mischka.  I have always been a fan of Rent the Runway in concept but I have not used it as often as I should because fear of my unique shape made me doubt that I could  order online without trying it on.  Well fear no more, there is a store!!

The store very spacious but cozy with the feel of shopping a friends closet.  For a $25 fee, customers can book an appointment online and create their style profile.  When they get to the store, they will be paired with a personal stylist to provide a styling consultation as they try on dresses and accessories for a complete head-to-toe looks for an upcoming event or even an entire season of events.  Fitting rooms will be equipped with iPad minis that have scan-to-screen capabilities for stylists to upload each dress tried on and add comments for future reference. Walk-in appointments are also welcome.  Customers will be able to reserve rentals for future events or take dresses and accessories with them directly from the store.  You also no longer have to wait for everything in the mail!  DC area customers who place an order online will have the option to pick up their rentals in store and try them on upon arrival.   If something does not fit, you can exchange your rentals!!  You have the option to mail it back provided pre-paid mailing envelope or simply bring it back to the store to return it!  Have a group event coming up?  Rent the Runway will offer exclusive packages in-store for private events and weddings. Private event packages will allow you to rent the space for a two-hour or full-day with personal styling services.

Burgundy Lips

on Nov 6, 2011
Here is a closer look at what we wore last week for the Refinery29 launch.  We opted out for something fun but comfortable.  I finally wore this 80's cardi sweater I got at Timmie Jane in Middleburg a few months ago - they seriously have some of the best vintage here in our area.  Carlis opted out for a fun, vintage polkadot dress - aren't large polkadots the best?  Anyway, looks like this week will be another busy week for us so we must get some rest today and embrace another week filled with fashion related events!

Happy Sunday Loves!

Michael Angel at Hu’s Wear Preview Event

on Nov 5, 2011
On Thursday evening, before the Refinery29 launch party festivities, we also had the pleasure of attending Michael Angel Resort and Spring 2012 collection preview at Hu's Wear in Georgetown with our favorite blogger power couple, Carla and Marshall of TPWP (yes, we have a little bit of a style and intellectual crush on them, but how can you not?)  We had a great time getting to know the designer, and checking out the collection - his digital silk-screened prints and designs are very colorful, unique, and feminine, just the way we like it.  Carlis was a huge fan of the bright colors and prints, and I was absolutely blown away by the simple and chic silhouettes.  It was also a pleasure to have some one-on-one time with the designer and getting to know his interesting and diverse background, as well as his inspiration for the collection.  Let's just say we won't be surprised if we spot our First Lady rocking one of these incredible designs very soon!

With Michael Angel.  He's even cooler than he looks and we will definitely take him up on his recommendation to visit Barcelona :)

We absolutely loved Carla's fun accessories and Bolivian belt.

Yes, this guy was real at one point and of course, Michael Angel had to spice up his look by adding the scarf ;)

Eat, Pray, Love

on Aug 15, 2010
After reading Eat, Pray, Love (and loving every single chapter in the book) we just had to check out the movie and let's just say...we were not dissapointed.  It was so nice to see the amazing food shots (because we all know how much we love food), beautiful Bali scenery, all the handsome male characters, and who can forget about Julia's charming smile!  Of course, in light of the movie we had to treat ourselves to a delicious meal consisting of mussels, salads, and all kinds of other yummy stuff.
Now it's time to enjoy a lazy Sunday and become one with the couch :)
