SCDC Events: Dine N Dash DC
I had the privilege of attending one of my favorite summer events - DINE N DASH. For those of you who have not heard of Dine N Dash it is a foodies fantasy. With your golden ticket (aka wrist band) you can take a culinary tour of Penn Quarter and enjoy specialty dishes, craft cocktails, and live music at some of the areas top restaurants. From 6pm to 10pm you can restaurant hop and eat, drink and mingle to your hearts content and feel good doing it because all of the proceeds go to the World Central Kitchen - a humanitarian organization that focuses on Smart Solutions to Hunger and Poverty. There were 10 restaurants and 3 food trucks that took part in this journey: Cuba Libre, PEPE, DC Empanadas, Poste Brasserie, Del Campo, Proof, Jaleo, SEI, Menu/MBK, TaKorean, Oyamel, Zaytinya and The Partisan. It's like Christmas for my inner fat kid!!
We started at Del Campo with this delicious bite and I knew it was going to be a great day!! It was hot and delicious and straight off the outdoor grill they had going. They also had DELICIOUS cocktails and empanadas that were equally as amazing!!
Next we made our way to Cuba Libre and got greeted with some delicious fried bites... I don't know what was in that roll but I had 4 and will be back. I think the challenge with this event is pacing yourself because it is a marathon and not a race!
Also what is a cuban restaurant without some mojitos? It's definitely a must and Cuba Libre knows how to make the just right!!
For dessert - a Dulce de Leche bite that was just the right size for a tasting.
We made a trip to Proof but being the delicious place that it is it was packed!!! All I wanted was my sticky toffee pudding but due to the crowd I had to settle for a glass of wine to enjoy with the live music.
Next it was off to the FOOD TRUCKS!!!
Takorean
DC Empanadas
Pepe
BBQ Bus (modeled with my date for the night, the lovely Carlis)
And my favorite The LOBSTER Truck!! This outdoor adventure was accompanied by more music from these guys!!
Next we headed to SEI where we got to see our girl Jessica who got to take a break to have a drink with us after helping to make sure the evening flowed smoothly for all in attendance!!
Sei had great drinks and awesome rolls!! I will definitely be back soon!
Especially to visit these guys!!
After Sei, we headed over to Jaleo and I barely had any room left but I had to try the liquid olives!!
After this deliciousness, I had to have more.
Then we headed to Oyamel, a delicious spot that I haven't been to in a while but they reminded me why they are so great!
Delicious food but even more delicious were the margaritas with salt foam!!! Genius!
Also a huge fan of the decor!! Love the attention to detail!
It's all about the little touches and details.
After enjoying some more tasty bites like these...
We headed over to The Partisan which is a delicious establishment (took my dad there for Father's day and he LOVED it) but we were too full to do anything but enjoy the music (and the view...)
We had our final bites at Zaytinya! (Sorry Poste, we meant to come back when it was cooler but got to0 full)
Where Livingsocial (one of the event sponsors) generously gave $10,000 to World Central Kitchen!!
Afterwards Chef Jose Andres was kind enough to take a picture with the ladies.
Overall it was an AWESOME night and I can't wait for the next one!! Check out all the volunteers and sponsors for the night! Thanks to all of them as well for making this possible!!
(*Also a little birdie told me that this fabulous event may hit the road soon*)
