As much as I tried to keep in mind outfit posts on the trip, it truly is difficult to think of dressing up when all you want to do is roll around on the sand (literally) and skip up and down the beach in nothing but a bikini, so above are a few of my beachy "outfits" - if you can call them that since some of them only feature one piece of garment and a bikini top. I was however really excited to finally rock my sexy lime green La Petite Marmoset shorts that I've had for a few months now. They were absolutely perfect for the trip - comfortable, fun, and as colorful as the tropical surroundings we were in. Speaking of tropical, I was loving the print this summer so had to get the Trouve pair when I found them at Nordstrom Rack for the grand total of $10! All in all, I learned a few lessons on this trip when it comes to dressing for the occasion, traveling from colder weather into humid, tropical climate, and some new beauty tips I learned from my friend Marta (pictured above) who looked flawless the entire trip, because God knows I am far from flawless when it comes to beach beauty. I'm more like a mermaid on crack since I'm always rolling around on the sand, swimming dawn til dusk (even if it means getting stung by a jelly fish ... twice), and I can care less if my maskara from the night before is running down my face haha. But if you do want to pull off the "flawless" look, check out the tips below:
- If you're traveling to tropical weather in cooler months, the key to a perfect travel outfit is layering. I wore a comfi pair of skinny jeans, a tank top, and a leather jacket. Once we arrived to Cancun, the leather jacket was in the bag, my hair was up, and I was ready to take on the heat!
- The key to a cute beach outfit is definitely accessories. Accessorize with fun sunnies, statement earrings, cool head bands, hats, arm parties, layared necklaces, and anything else that you can throw on that doens't require you to cover up that cute bikini. But if you must, maxi skirts, short shorts and crop tops work best (at least for me).
- Beauty on the beach, is best achieved by A. putting your hair up in a pretty bun, pony tail, or braid (the "hair down/beach wave" look is only cute until the sweat starts pouring down your back), B. using a natural face bronzer to give you a healthy glow + a few coats of waterproof maskara and some slightly tinted SPF chapstick, C. spraying some shimmer body spray that not only smells good but makes your skin look radiant and D. getting a shellac manicure that is sure to last you the entire trip.

Katya
