Here is my Day 1 of NYFW look -- pre-Nemo blizard.  I'm totally a basic kind of person so the black and white trend is something I'm fully embracing this year. And of course you can't go wrong with leather -- something we continued to see a lot of on the runway for Fall 2013. I also picked up this amazing BCBG coat before heading up to NY and let me tell you, best purchase ever! (or did I also say that about my booties? haha) As we all know, a good coat is hard to find, and when you find one in your size, favorite color, and a brand you love for 60% off, you can't pass that up... right? So anyway, I was nice and cozy during Nemo thanks to this new baby.

As you can tell from my face expressions I was seriously cold! I must admit that I turn into a bad style blogger if I don't like the weather! lol  Any who! this day was a lot of fun since we were able to reunite with most of our DC blogger friends and just hang out, it's always nice to see familiar faces in the middle of MBFW chaos. ;)

Blazer:  Vintage Silk Ellen Tracy
Pants:  Vintage Leather
Cut off T:  American Apparel
Bag:  Botkier
Necklace:  Vintage
Booties:  Trouve
Our first day of NYFW was actually the least cold day of all (well during the afternoon at least), so I took advantage of it by wearing pastels and going without a coat.  I absolutely love my new 'Valentina' Botkier bag so I planned most of my outfits around this new staple in my wardrobe.  It sure got a lot of love from street style photographers and even the VP of Botkier himself :)  I think everyone really loved the color.  Its's so fun!

Trench: Banana Republic
Jeans: Indigo Rein
Purse & Hat: Vintage
Wedges: SMU
Necklace: She's Unique
This outfit was planned around my vintage hat! I decided to go for the comfy kind of masculine look this time, but to keep the outfit on a less serious side, I wore my fav hot pink jeans and this soft pink button down shirt.  This was NOT my originally planned first NYFW outfit, but due to the fact that Carlis forgot the most important piece of her outfit back in DC, I had to work with what I had lol.  Hope you guys like it and please ignore my tired face! 10 Things we leaned about traveling to NYFW during February:

  1. Pack smart, light, but also bring enough to be comfortable with in case of a fashion emergency
  2. Bring lots of basics and pieces you can layer with
  3. Bring your staple pieces in case you're not happy with your originally planned outfits (we all know it's hard to plan ahead and moods can change)
  4. Bring FLATS to change into (your feet will thank you), but if you forget, there is always Kmart fashion to the rescue.  We definitely had to tweet at them with "please save our feet, we need flats #fashionweekproblems" - and yes, they will come anywhere you are and your flats will be free!
  5. It WILL get cold in February no matter how much we think global warming is a real thing, so bring a coat or two that you can use with all outfits as well as hats, gloves, and other winter gear
  6. Bring a bag that will fit your camera or a cute camera bag that will go well with your looks -- Andy's Kipling bag is a perfect example
  7. Get enough rest before you arrive because you will NOT have time to sleep, have a real meal, or anything else that is not FW related
  8. Take full advantage of everything FW has to offer aside from the shows.  Lounges and after parties are almost as much fun as the shows ... almost
  9. Network, network, network
  10. Remember to take it all in and have fun!!!

PS:  Aside from what we wore to NYFW, we will also be posting fun street style and our fav designer collection/runway looks, videos, and more -- so definitely check back for more updates all week!
