A Day in Annapolis
One of my favorite things of all time is taking short day trips on my random days off. So yesterday a few of my childhood best friends, their adorable two year-old son, and I took a quick drive up to Annapolis (only 45min away), and spent the afternoon feasting on crab legs and other yummy fresh seafood at Cantler's. The place is right on the water and it has some amazing views too. Later we went into town for ice cream and a play date in the park. It was a perfect afternoon!
It was a pretty hot day, so I wore my good ol' vintage Levi's, H&M cropped tank, Asos Aviators, vintage bag, and silver hamsa necklace and rings from She's Unique
It's an Overall Good Idea!
After a week or so of contemplating on this whole overalls trend, I finally cracked and got these earlier this week... and let me tell you, totally obsessed now! I don't know why I've always had this "thing" about overalls...in reality I totally dig them, like a LOT. Wore them to the South Moon Under pool party event with Rock The Vote on Saturday afternoon. I figured what better than to throw some overalls over a swimsuit on a gloomy day?
Got this South Moon Under cap a while back and finally found an occasion and the right outfit to wear it with!
I've been lusting over the RayBan mirrored aviators for a while now, but until I decide if it's worth the investment and this isn't just a short trend, these Asos pair will do the trick. If you can't tell, the frame is rose gold. I know... amazing!

A Summer Bodycon
So .. I totally have this love/hate thing going on with bodycon dresses. Are they really that comfortable and cute as people like to think? I usually want to put something over it so not that comfi after all ... unless of course you're like 100 pounds. Any who, reason I got this one was because I really love that flower, summer print. I threw on this silk vintage blazer over it for a more complete look. How do you all feel about bodycon dresses?

The Perfect Floral Jumpsuit
As you can tell, my obsession with printed rompers and jumpers continues. It just makes life so easy on a hot summer afternoon. There is no stress on trying to put an outfit together when you have something so simple to throw on. I especially love this particular one because of the cut outs and the print.

Summer Layers
After my last post where I made it clear that sometimes I do not want to layer in the summer, the subject got me thinking. What does it take to achieve the fun summer layered look without the extra heat? Here is how I see it, it has to be simple to put together, it has to be cool (and by that I mean... cool as in refreshing), and of course, it has to be chic! For this look I paired up a tropical print pair of shorts with a simple tank and long blazer vest. I love the open sides of the vest and tank to allow some air flow + the long vest also helps if you're wearing something short on the bottom. We all know short shorts and short, tight top is a No No!

A Chevron Romper
When I found this romper at Tari Consignment while killing time before my Pilates Class at Fuel in Georgetown last week, I knew it was the perfect summer staple. I absolutely love the chevron pattern mixed with these great summer colors and of course, the comfort of a romper. I get super lazy in the summer and sometimes layering is just not something I want to do. With a romper, you throw on a few accessories and you're good to go!
I had to wear my rose gold chevron ring to play on the chevron pattern of the romper
The low cut open back is ideal in the summer - sexy but also refreshing

I have been looking for a chic, long sleeve romper for a while now, so when I saw this adorable butterfly print silk romper at Current Boutique, I had to have it - especially since it was only $15. I paired it up with gold accessories and neutral shoes for our Memorial Day BBQ. I mean a girl has to celebrate in style right???
Time to say goodbye to summer...

I decided to wear this "transition outfit" on Labor Day ... this is probably the last time I'm wearing shorts this summer (or so I hope ... let's see if this heat finally decides to go down) because God knows I'm soooo ready for fall weather and a brand new fall wardrobe! Jackets, layers, boots, hats, scarves, and rich deep colors and textures...I can't wait to style you all! I also love this little sweater type top I got at Anthropologie the other day. It's light enough to wear now in this 80 degree heat, but will also make for a great fall piece if layered with a blouse or jacket. Anyway... as you probably already know, I'm staying behind for NYFW this season (insert super sad face here), but being a business owner forces you to make hard decisions at times. So I wish my other sweet 1/2 a great trip and lots of fun coverage!
Crop Top: H&M
Skirt: Urban Outfitters
Wedges: Nine West
I was going to save this skirt to wear to NYFW but now I'm glad I didn't since the zipper totally fell apart just minutes before working on this post .. thankfully supper blogger aka ME managed to stay calm and decided to snap photos of my outfit anyway hoping my skirt wouldn't fall down and force me to flash an innocent jogger that morning lol. Once photos were taken, I changed to a dress I had in my bag (doesn't everyone carry a change of clothes in case your skirt falls apart mid way? haha) so I made a near by "shaw alley" my personal dressing room -- very tack-y and trash-y of me, isn't it? hahah
PS: Get ready for some awesome NYFW coverage. I left to NY this morning on a super early bus and will do my best to keep you updated w runway shows, street style, and any other fab events you guys need to see! ;) I'm mostly excited to attend the ELLE Fashion/Next Presentation event!!
Follow our insta @spicycandydc for up-to-the-minute updates. Katya will be covering Fashion's Night Out today in Alexandria, so if you are in the VA/DC area you will see her around ;)
