District Closets: Q&A w Natalie of TFB

on Sep 18, 2014
Shop My Closet! (1)
We are so excited to have Natalie of TFB back in this year's #DistrictCloset line up. Nat's carefree style is a true reflection of her fun and outgoing personality. She is actually one of the few people we know who can pull off almost any look flawlessly. We can't wait to see what this lovely girl brings to District Closets this year!

1.How would you describe your personal style?
Feminine and edgy, yet classic. My personal style has become pretty full of "good basics". Sometimes I embrace a little boho-twist, but for the most part, I'm into structured basics and most of my wardrobe is black, white, blue or gray. And everything must be at least little sexy or feminine.

2.How does DC inspire your day-to-day style?
I don't live in DC or work in DC, so honestly not that much (hehe), BUT when I am in DC, the people of DC don't disappoint. Everyone thinks that DC is so serious, but I think people are not afraid to embrace their personal style and anything goes. That inspires me to do always wear what I want, not what I think other people think I should.

3.What are some of your favorite places to shop in the DC metro area?
Nordstrom (Pentagon City or Tysons Corner Center), Zara and She's Unique for jewelry in Old Town.

4.You have the closet that any fashionable girl would die for, what are your wardrobe staples?
A black, quilted Chanel bag (obviously), I'm currently dying for the Givenchy Antigona bag so we should throw that in there as well, black Stuart Weitzman Nudist Heels, white Manolo Blahnik pumps, a real leather jacket, plus a great selection of white tees and denim.

5. Can you give us little hints about what we can expect to see from your collection of pieces at District Closets?
A lot of items with tags on them (including some great denim) that I'm finally bringing myself to part with! It's hard, but I've decided it's time.

Blouse: from my fav consignment boutique Current Boutique
Jeans: Citizens of Humanity
Boots: Alexander Wang
Rings & Necklace: She's Unique
Here is a quick little post I shot with Natalie of The Fashionably Broke when she came to visit me at the store and got about 10 rings while she was at it ... you gotta love us - jewelry addicts! I also love this blouse I scored at Current Boutique a little while back. You can't see it too well in these photos but it's completely open in the back .. you gotta love a shirt that is conservative in the front and party in the back :)

When working on a project of this magnitude with a brand as big as South Moon Under, the release of the final product feels like a pretty big deal, well because it is! This is our second partnership with this growing East Coast retailer (you may remember this post of our first collaboration), and this time we wanted to take a more backseat role and let our beautiful, stylish DC blogger friends shine! We knew that Erika & Natalie (The Fashionably Broke) sisters as well as Tammy of A Loya Love would be the perfect choice to deliver a stellar performance in the Video Lookbook we had in mind. The concept of this video lookbook is three girlfriends who spent an entire day doing what girls do best - shopping (at South Moon Under of course), grabbing some coffee, and then having a fun girl's night out with dinner and dancing. The main focus of this video is to show the versatility of South Moon Under's merchandise. How easy it is to turn a day outfit into a night outfit by simply adding some fun accessories, or changing up the shoes. It was amazing to see the girls transform the looks with only a few basic pieces. Any girl on a budget would appreciate this type of versatility in their own wardrobes. Instead of doing a photo look book, we decided on video this time because with video you can actually capture feelings. You can see the fun moments, you watch the girls transform, it's exciting and it's fresh! Photos are always great, but this time we wanted to show something a little different. We wanted to focus on the girls, and their fun personalities -- something that could get lost in photos alone. We hope you love this video just as much as we do, and if you're in the DMV area, come join us tonight for the release party in Clarendon!
